La Rochelle wore it’s glorious jewelery last night, best skyline, warm light – perfect outfit to celebrate Bastille Day…as I made my way towards the festivities and animations down the old port I enjoyed the calm and tranquility of the deserted upper center part of town, place de Verdun. The empty arches, quaint buildings with disjointed shutters…La Rochelle never fails to suprise me with its unsophisticated and bold beauty.
A late afternoon bike ride took us to Chef de Baie the alternative beach for La Rochelle…loved the way the wind was playing music through the field of wheat…18.00pm the light is stunning, note to myself: must remember to do this more often.
I was supposed to be taking pictures of the children sailing but got side tracked for a minute by this texture that never fails to catch my attention…it has the most beautiful shade of yellow!
Carnival did not disappoint this year in la Rochelle with as always some great costumes – music was really cool too thanks to “Les Traînes Savates” and “Batala” a great way to spend Saturday afternoon. Pictures are a credit to kevinD who really got engrossed into it.
