well that was embarrassing

Last week I escaped to our local beach in La Rochelle, the temperature reached 30 degrees celsus and I had to cool down my neurones for fear of melting…

Swimming suit – packed

Sun cream – packed

Belly board – waiting in the car

Body suit – packed

water – book – beach ball – sun glasses – oranges – anti-fog spray – goggles

We settled down with our gear laying nearby, I threw myself in the waves – floated for a while, removed the seaweeds from my head and made my way back to suggest to Bein Ouai* to pick up his belly board to make the most of the waves…

Back at the base Bein Ouai looked puzzled:

-I think It flew over there mum (pointing at the girls sitting further down from us)

I can see the belly board and the body suit on top…must have flown over there…not a big deal…

I rushed and apologized picking up my belongings at the same time. The girls looked at me with eyes turning into big question marks and unsure of what to say to that weird woman taking a shine to their belongings.

-It’s mine [the girl said slightly awkward].

-Oh that’s odd I have exactly the same orange belly board and the same suit…ARE YOU SURE?

- Y—essss I can even  show you the scar I did when…

-Nooooo!!!  that’s fine.

At the same time I am checking the labels inside…De-ca-thlon size 42 …that’s the one! [she is having me on...]

-Are you sure?! {I am now convinced  of dealing with vilains}  that’s a 42 – you surely don’t wear 42!!! [casually accusing her of being fat....]

The girl remains calm and still argues that IT IS HERS – I make my way back to my base  thinking about what to do next…

When I see Ben Ouai* I question him again, are you sure that’s yours?

-well I can’t remember if I left it in the car or not…

AT THAT POINT I WANTED TO TURN INTO A SMALL PARTICULE OF SAND!

Of course I went back and apologized  – I have to  admire the girl’s total control throughout the scene…I can only despise myself : I AM SUCH AN IDIOT!!!

Have you ever done anything embarrassing? Oh please do tell…

*inquisitive  10 years old  that pushes boundaries on daily basis…

I once worked for a stocktaking company. This involved working nights counting everything in (mainly) supermarkets and massive department stores. As you can imagine, this takes a large amount of staff. We were all in teams according to where we lived, my team leader was a young girl who was very good at stocktaking but not so hot at man-management. One night, I was sent to work with another team because they were short of staff. The team leader was a young guy, again very good at the counting side of things, but possibly the most boring, dull, miserable person I have ever met. When I was re-united with my original team the next night, my boss said “So how did it go last night?”, I replied that the job was ok but that the team leader was a real bundle of laughs, and how I hoped I never had to work with him again! My boss looked at me oddly and said “who were you working for then?”, when I described the guy to her, she said “Oh! you mean Dave, he’s my fiance”.
Oh dear……..I left the job soon after that.

The story changes with kids sometimes every five minutes.

That’s why parents make the worst detectives.

Hi K – Chef de Baie depending on the tides sometimes has good waves, the good thing about that beach is that you can always swim.
