Les Fouées…French answer to Mc Donald

I made a gastronomic discovery a few months ago…I repeated the experience last week-end at the BD festival in Angoulême…

Les Fouées…bread pockets cooked in a pizza type oven and filled with either fresh cow cheese – (cottage cheese) – rillettes or tuna…selling at €2.00 it is simply the best thing us frogs have come up with in the *fast food* department…forget jambon beurre…or crêpes…this could take on Mac Donald all the way and all the panini boys out there should just behave.  Why I have never heard about this until now is simply a mystery…it is almost like a well kept secret…zero advertising -zero packaging waste and very cheap to make…it tastes sensational- soft and warm it melts on the palate. Never be put off by queues in fact when you see French queuing it is always worth joining in…we love our food don’t we?…

Eat les fouées in Moulin de Verteuil

foue

Pleasure number two: watch them rise as they cook…

    sounds like a calzone, dear sylvie! sort of like a wrapped up pizza and usually made with ricotta cheese and then you add other ingredients as you like- maybe this is just a french take on it…..

    Eva: no…no…no…I KNOW what a calzone is…not at all that…a calzone is by far heavier and full of eggs…nope it is way lighter and you can’t eat a calzone walking around…{ how are you ?!..a year ago we had a picnic on the Ile De Ré…have you started your blog about Chicago yet?
    missing you here…xx}
